Coaching Stock of the NSW Railways Volumes 1 & 2 by David Cooke, Don Estell, Keith Seckold, John Beckhaus & Dennis Toohey. Volume 1 gives descriptions of the many variations and service lives of these carriages, arranged in contract order and also details the changes made to many of them. The Railways at Work, Official Photography of the N.S.W.G.R. is a series of photographic albums compiled by Craig Mackey. Volumes 1 & 2 and his first album, New South Wales Railways Classic Steam in the 1930’s were published by Orion Publications. Volumes 3 & 4 have come from his own LocoWorks Publications. The main advantage of these albums is having large departmental photographs of the real thing made available at a very reasonable price. They give the reader a wonderful visual feel of the NSWGR in it’s heyday. In Volume 4 there is a detailed description of the Express Lavatory Carriages. Volumes 3 and 4 can be purchased through this site. Price is $35.00 each plus $4.00 Post & Packing. Well known NSWGR modeller James McInerney has much useful prototype information on these carriages, along with some handy computer-generated colour guides, posted on his web site. As well as a wealth of other general information, there is a large number of photos demonstrating James' unique skills in modelling the NSWGR.
